I started the British Avgeek YouTube channel around August 2020 after being injured at work and finding myself at home with little to do. Microsoft Flight Simulator was released and it re-ignited my passion for flight simulation at home! Initially I joined the flybywire team as a QA Tester and enjoyed testing multiple updates every day from the beginning of the project, and spent a year actively testing for them to help improve the fantastic A32NX the community really enjoy.
Many years ago, I was a volunteer flying instructor in the RAF Air Cadets at a basic level, flying short 30 minute sorties in the Grob Vigilant T1 Motor Glider. It was an incredible aircraft and really enjoyable to spend well over 5 years flying it. I have flown the PA28 a handful of times across many years during three attempts to become a pilot (though flying in the UK is eye wateringly expensive).
What do I offer different to other channels?
Tutorials designed to help every skill level - ensuring the community stays inclusive, and as helpful as ever. Focus on VATSIM is a core principle of this, hopefully inspiring people first gain confidence operating a variety of aircraft in the simulator and then perhaps persuading them to venture into greater immersion with online networks like VATSIM and Virtual Airlines such as our very own Osprey Airways!
I also work to provide you with transparent, honest reviews of flight simulation addons and hardware offering my unfiltered thoughts about what is on offer and what I think. Finally, in addition to all of that I am a VATSIM Ground Controller and frequently fly group flights, and controller livestreams offering some enjoyable variety.
If you're a developer, or company and want to get in touch I'd love to hear from you!
Whether you're looking to sponsor live streams with relatable adverts for Aviation or Flight Simulation products, services and ideas - or you want to speak to me about upcoming product previews - contact me directly via email and I'll work to respond to you as quickly as I can.
I previously had a TurtleBeach VelocityOne Flight Yoke which is a great piece of hardware but I've recently updated both Yoke and Throttle now. I've got a WinWing F16EX2 HOTAS (though their Ursa Minor is exceptionally well recommended!) and also purchased what I think is the best throttle you can buy for the price - a Honeycomb Bravo. Both fantastic bits of kit.
The Ultimate Cockpit for Flight Simmers (short of building a full cockpit yourself though this would work nicely in that too!). The Next Level Racing Flight Boeing Commercial Edition cockpit seat is a pricey, but epic addition to your setup if your budget allows!
Rudder Pedal's are a must! This set is one of the cheaper options, well made and work well in the Simulator too!
Half the price of the miniCockpit miniFCU, this incredibly 1:1 scale Airbus FCU made by WinWing is a must have for Airbus loving Flight Simmers!
This is my current PC set up, significantly upgraded from the previous!
